These Policies set out the basic policies on the use of the Signs I/O website (the “Website”) for all users who browse the Website and all users who use the services on the Website (“you”). If you are under eighteen (18) years old and use any of the services, the consent of your parent or guardian or similar person is governed by the Membership Terms and Conditions and the conditions of use of each service.
These Policies are established by General Incorporated Association Shikaku (“us”), which operates the Website. Any consent required for Member registration or for applying for a service will be confirmed in the relevant procedure, and will not be treated as having been obtained merely by your browsing the Website.
Article 1. Principles of Self-responsibility and Disclaimers
-
The Website provides Members who are registered with the Website with know-how on sign language and on learning sign language, together with related videos, seminars and other materials. For purposes of these Policies, “Members” means the users who are registered with the Website.
-
You will use the Website and each service according to your own purposes and environment. Our responsibility and yours are governed by paragraph 4 and the terms applicable to each service.
-
We will make efforts to ensure that all information provided on the Website, including articles and images (the “Content”), is always accurate and up to date. However, we do not guarantee that all information is always up to date and complete, or that it is suited to the purposes of any individual user.
-
If damage arises from a cause attributable to us or to you, the responsible party will be liable in accordance with laws and regulations. Responsibility relating to the use of each service is governed by the applicable Membership Terms and Conditions and the individual terms of the contract. These Policies do not limit any liability or right that cannot be limited under laws and regulations.
-
If we find any error or other inaccuracy in the Content, we will verify it and respond by correcting it or otherwise. Responsibility arising in connection with this is governed by the preceding paragraph.
-
Third-party websites linked on the Website are managed by their respective operators. Please check the terms of use and other conditions of the linked website before using it. Our responsibility is governed by paragraph 4.
-
Other terms, guidelines for use, instructions and other rules that we present on the Website and when providing each service (including the Privacy Policy, collectively, the “Guidelines and Other Rules”) apply according to the matter they cover. The Membership Terms and Conditions apply to the services for Members, the relevant individual terms apply to the conditions specific to a service, and personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and the addendum for the relevant service. If these Policies differ from the Membership Terms and Conditions or other such terms regarding the conditions of a service for Members, the terms and individual contract applicable to that service will prevail.
-
The Japan standard time (GMT+9:00) is the standard time for these Policies, the Guidelines and Other Rules, and when providing each service on the Website.

Article 3. Copyrights and Other Rights
-
All copyrights in the Content belong to us or to the copyright owner who provided the information or other materials.

Article 5. Handling of Information Involving Your Privacy
-
In addition to information you provide to us, for example when you register as a Member or send an inquiry, we may obtain information such as the Website’s access logs and cookies. The purposes of use of the information we obtain, and entrustment, provision to third parties and similar matters, are governed by the Privacy Policy and the addendum for the relevant service.
-
We may use cookies or similar tools to collect information on your behavior, preferences, browsing history and the like. You can restrict cookies through your browser settings or by other means. Restricting cookies may make some functions, such as logging in, unavailable. Even if you restrict cookies, this will not necessarily stop all acquisition of access logs and similar information.
Article 6. Notification
-
We will notify you of important matters concerning the operation of the Website and similar matters by posting them on the Website or by other methods that we deem appropriate.
-
A notification made by posting on the Website will be deemed to have been completed at the time when it is posted on the Website.
-
Your failure to object to a notification does not, by itself, constitute agreement to a new contract or the giving of any required consent. Changes to contract terms are governed by Article 9, the terms applicable to each service, and laws and regulations.
Article 7. Interruption and Termination of the Website and Services
-
We may interrupt all or part of the Website and each service temporarily if an act of God, hacking attack, communications failure or similar event occurs, if we perform maintenance on the systems, servers or other facilities of the Website and each service, or if such interruption is otherwise necessary for operation. We will give notice in advance where possible and, in an emergency, will endeavor to give notice promptly afterwards. Even where, because such circumstances continue, we terminate a service without being able to give the advance notice under paragraph 2, we will promptly inform you of the termination and the necessary measures.
-
We may terminate all or part of the Website and each service by giving you at least one (1) month’s prior notice. Such notice will be given by posting on the Website.
-
Our responsibility in connection with interruption or termination is governed by Article 1, paragraph 4. The handling of paid services that have not been provided, refunds and other settlements will be carried out in accordance with the Membership Terms and Conditions, the individual terms of the contract, and laws and regulations.
Article 8. Jurisdiction and Governing Law
-
These Policies and the Guidelines and Other Rules will be interpreted and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
-
We will consult in good faith regarding any dispute arising in connection with these Policies and the Guidelines and Other Rules, and if litigation is necessary, the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court will be a non-exclusive court of agreed jurisdiction for the court of first instance. This does not affect your right to bring an action in another court that has jurisdiction under laws and regulations.
Article 9. Revision of These Policies
-
We may revise these Policies in accordance with laws and regulations and our operating circumstances. Where we change the terms of a contract, we will do so only where the requirements of Article 548-4 of the Civil Code of Japan and other laws and regulations are met, and will obtain separate consent where necessary.
-
We will make known the fact of the revision, the content after the revision and the date on which it begins to apply, by posting on the Website or by other appropriate methods. We will give notice of important revisions before the date on which they begin to apply. If the Membership Terms and Conditions or individual terms provide for a notice period or the like, that provision will be followed.
-
Your continued browsing or use of the Website, or the mere posting or updating of a version, will not be treated as our having obtained any consent required by laws and regulations.
